The Russian Academy of Sciences had been established by a decree of Peter the Great on February 8, 1724, so the Russian Government decided to mark February 8 as the Science Day on the 275th Anniversary of RAS.

The Academy history is full of traditions and names of persons which scientific discoveries enriched the humanity achievements. Many generations of Russian researchers created the native science basis and this continuity in work is saved nowadays.
